The Mayan Resort Belize is a 1,000-acre master planned destination resort fronting the Caribbean Sea, several miles north of Belize City and the Belize International Airport.  The 1,000-acre site is located in the Southern portion of the Mayan Plantation.

The site is composed of oceanfront land, lagoon-waterfront land, mangrove and savannah. A creek forms the northern boundary of the site.The land is flat and approximately one meter above sea level.

The Mayan Resort Belize is envisioned to be the premier destination resort on the mainland of Belize.  As such, the following components shall be provided:

  • Four (4) resort sites; three fronting on man-made beaches on the ocean and one on the lagoon;
  • A harbor village / marina;
  • Eight Port Grimaud style waterways-oriented, Retirement Community sites;
  • An 18-hole resort golf course with two holes and two tees at the ocean’s edge and luxurious golf club-house;
  • Nine golf-oriented community sites;
  • Five waterway-oriented timeshare sites;
  • A tennis complex;
  • At least one casino; and
  • Five resort residential sites.

 

 
 
 

The character of the natural environment will be lush, tropical and low key.  Pathways for equestrian, bicycle and pedestrian will meander through the property.  Landscape specimens native to Belize will be the dominant theme of the landscape and design.  Biodegradable agents and measures shall be used for fertilization and pest control.

The character of the built environment shall be in harmony with the natural environment and the rich cultural heritage.  Design covenants will assure to promote quality development with an emphasis on sustainable design.  The covenant shall allow a wide range of design character.  A height limit of four stories shall be kept to build environment in balance with the natural environment.

The site shall be accessed via a four-lane parkway and an ultra-light railway from the national highway to the west.  Access via water will provide direct connection to the proposed cruise ship mooring facility, to the International Airport, to the Cays and to Belize City.  There are several unexcavated Mayan ruins on the site that shall be evaluated by a team of archeologists and set aside as preservation zones.
