Education and Training

  • Belizean and Central American Students:These students would be seeking associate degrees or certificate programs in order to obtain higher paying jobs without acquiring a 4 year college degree.
  • Executive Training for Executives of Fortune 500 companies: Executives of companies seeking executive retreats during which they can relax in a tropical environment, but be only 2 hours from Houston or Miami. Executive seminars on the latest in business, management, technology, and science would be offered. They would also be connected to their companies by wireless connection throughout the facility.
  • IC2 Institute at UT Austin: The IC2 Institute is interested in having an institution in Belize in order to serve a Latin American as well as global market for executive education, training courses, and perhaps a master’s program. A partnership with ITESM would make it possible to have a broader student base and access to professors.
  • Universities with Distant Learning Initiatives:The facility would be open not only to IC2, but to other top tier universities looking to expand their distance learning initiatives in Central America.
  • International students: Students from countries around the world, who find that acquiring a student visa from the US to be more difficult, would be able to come to Belize and study Science and Technology Commercialization as a full course or vignettes of the course at the IC2 Institute Belize Campus. In 2002 there were 646,000 foreign student admissions into the US, compared to 699,000 in 2001 due to increased security policies in the US. Students coming from South America or Central America would not have to travel far from home in order to receive a US education at a lower cost of living. These students could possibly also do field studies on Belize such as Mayan history studies, archaeology studies on Mayan ruins, ecological studies, etc. A partnership with ITESM such as a study abroad program for students to do hands on studies on Belize.
